Ordered 4 of these and the packaging did not say "Superior Quality Henna" like it shows in the photo, but it says "Superior Quality Hair Color". I contacted the Jamila company and the gentleman says that this is a fake product, the packaging inside the box will be in foil and that they do not make "Hair Color". Upon opening, the powder is brown and not green like lawsonia inermis is supposed to be and does not smell like henna either. I am returning all 4 boxes. If I put this on my hair, I would have no idea of the reaction, the color and what it was I was putting on it. Beware!
I am a professional henna artist and I swear by Jamila henna -- it's vacuum-packed for freshness and has a harvest date stamped on the bottom. Like any other plant product, henna can go stale and stop staining -- the window for freshness is about 2 years for body art and 6 years for your hair. The hair is better at absorbing dyes than the skin is.
